چکیده

99 Insomnia Symptoms and Cardiorespiratory Fitness—Strand et al INTRODUCTION Insomnia is a self-reported condition that includes difficulty falling asleep or remaining asleep.1,2 Insomnia is common in patients with cardiovascular disease and a growing body of evidence suggests that insomnia is associated with an increased risk of coronary heart disease,3-5 but the underlying mechanisms for this association are largely unknown. However, several studies have reported that people with insomnia symptoms tend to have a lower level of physical activity,6-9 which could represent a possible explanation for the increased risk of coronary heart disease in these individuals. Insomnia could also be inversely associated with cardiorespiratory fitness because its major determinant is physical activity. However, so far only two relatively small studies have assessed the association between sleep and cardiorespiratory fitness using exercise tests.10,11 Whereas physical activity corresponds to any bodily movement produced by skeletal muscles INSOMNIA SYMPTOMS AND CARDIORESPIRATORY FITNESS: THE HUNT STUDY

Relationship between Quality of Life and Cardiorespiratory Endurance in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes

Background & Aims: Diabetes is a metabolic disease characterized by chronic hyperglycemia and impaired metabolism of carbohydrates, lipids and proteins. This disease is caused by defects in insulin secretion, insulin function, or both (1, 2). This chronic disease can have serious short-term and long-term consequences that affect the health and quality of life (QOL) of patients (3). Type 2 diabe...

Cardiorespiratory fitness protects against stress-related symptoms of burnout and depression.

OBJECTIVE To examine how cardiorespiratory fitness and self-perceived stress are associated with burnout and depression. To determine if any relationship between stress and burnout/depression is mitigated among participants with high fitness levels. METHODS 197 participants (51% men, mean age=39.2 years) took part in the study. The Åstrand bicycle test was used to assess cardorespiratory fitn...

Prediction of Non-exercise Iranian Cardiorespiratory Fitness and Investigation the Effective Components on Society: an analytic (case-control) study

Background & Aims: In large populations, the level of cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) can be evaluated by estimating non-exercise models with the least amount of time and money. In this study, we present non-exercise equations for predicting CRF and also investigate the effect of socio-environmental factors on it. Materials & Methods: 2490 male and female subjects aged 25-65 years old from dif...

Insomnia and Endothelial Function – The HUNT 3 Fitness Study

BACKGROUND Insomnia is associated with increased risk of coronary heart disease (CHD), but the underlying mechanisms are not understood. To our knowledge, no previous studies have examined insomnia in relation to endothelial function, an indicator of preclinical atherosclerosis. Our aim was to assess the association of insomnia with endothelial function in a large population based study of heal...

Estimating VO2peak from a non-exercise prediction model; The HUNT Study, Norway Short title: Prediction of VO2peak

PURPOSE: Cardiorespiratory fitness is suggested to be an important marker of cardiovascular risk, but is rarely evaluated in healthcare settings. In the present study directly measured peak oxygen uptake data (VO2peak) from a diverse population of 4637 healthy participants were used to develop and cross-validate a new non-exercise regression model of cardiorespiratory fitness for men and women....
